Nabbed from Charis :)

1) It's probably a loaded question (even if we all have our preferences and quirks of taste), but what's something that will usually turn you off on a 'sienne?

To be honest, there's no Sienne I particularly dislike. I like a whole lot of them, but there's never been one thing that made me drop 'em like a hot potato. The only exception is Tom, who just plain freaks me out. I can't put my finger on what it is, but yup. Wouldn't make any effort whatsoever to see anything with her in it. (Which is sad, because I can tell she was a great performer. Now, she's plastic)

2) Revue silliness aside, what's your general opinion of otokoyaku in drag?

If they're the right performer for that part, I don't see why not. I imagine it can be hugely frustrating for Musumeyaku to lose out on meaty roles to Otokoyaku, but everyone knows that Otokoyaku are really the eye-catching critters in the Company. That's the novelty - you can see women playing women any time, but Otokoyaku always will get more attention.

That's not to say I don't adore Musumeyaku. All the ladies in the company are so talented, I may be a little green, but really, I started watching for the ladies in drag, and when the ladies in drag are put in non-drag, it amuses me far too much.

3) If you could have kept any one retired actress around longer, who would it have been and why?

Ayami Haya or Kazu Ryouka. I really loved those girls :)

4) In the same vein, if you could have given any actress (retired or unlikely to get it at this point) -- otokoyaku or musumeyaku -- a top spot, who would it be? (Alternatively, who would your top fantasy combi have been/be?)

TAKI! Oh, Taki-san! I would have loved to see her paired with Mariko as top combi of Hoshi, because really, they rocked the Kasbah!

5) What is it you like most about Kacha?

I like that she is so genuinely sweet and good-natured :) Prime example was when she was on one of the shows, getting to be a kindergarten teacher for a day, and was so lovely with the tiny people. She really is just fricking adorable.

Re #4: keyboardsmashing could not fully express my flaily approval of this. YES PLZ NOW. XDDDDDD

*ahem*

Thanks for answering! I'm always curious about how others view things and what draws them to this or that, especially with a fandom of a sort I've never ventured into before. :3

(PS: if there's anything you want to fire back at me for questions, feel free!)

1. Elisabeth! I got interested in that musical and decided to watch all the versions I could find.

2. Right now - Japanese, I think. ))) My English is already good enough to do everything I need, and while my Spanish is rusty and my French is terribly bad, I believe I'd get better if I needed them everyday. Also, I believe in my ability to learn European languages; Japanese, not so much.

3. That's so complicated! I don't think I have _one_, but Lord of the Rings is somewhere on the list, and Austen's Persuasion, and some of the Pratchetts, and some books by Diana Wynne Jones, and Sayers's Gaudy Night, and Sarah Caudwell's books...

4. I've been wondering about that for a long time - I started off with European musicals and I still find them better quality, but European musicals I enjoy, and Takarazuka I love. There's beautiful women, of course, but that alone isn't enough... a combination of things, I think. People I started to like and enjoy seeing; my fascination with Takarazuka as a setting (a bit like girls' school stories); the crackiness of their plots and ideas... and, I think, the whole glittery picture card prettiness of it all - the dream which is perfect in its irreality. Turned out just what I needed to lift up my mood; whatever they're selling, they got me (and it's kinda scary how much they got me - so weird to watch rehearsal videos and find yourself caring so much about the lives of people you've never met, whether they're all right and what way their lives are going to turn out. Yeah, I'm sold both on shows and on 'siennes - maybe _more_ on 'siennes).

5. My ideal home... close enough to a big city to use all its benefits, but surrounded by nature. Ideally here nearby on the Karelian Isthmus - I love the nature here, it's my eternal mental landscape, and it's close enough to get to Saint Petersburg if you have a car (which I don't have. and the infrastructure here is bad enough so you'd need much more money than just to buy/build a house to live like this)

... eh, I got chatty)))
