I can't say I was wholly surprised by the news that Matobu Sei will retire in 2011. I think many of us saw it coming. She became Top Star a year after Mizu, and she's leaving less than a year after Mizu did. I'll miss her, because she was such a charming, dotty and fun Top Star. I count it a privelege I was able to see her at her comedic best in Me and My Girl when I was in Osaka last year.

I don't see this as the end of her career, though. She loves performing far too much to stop :) And how she's grown since she was a Hoshi baby under Mariko so many years ago. Good luck to her.

I agree :D. She's very adorable and fun, especially in rehearsals like the belt buckles for example :)

Can't wait to see what surprises lies in store for her OG career so I wish her the best as well, :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has boxes of books stored away. I pracodiielly pull some out to my TBR shelf, rearrange the contents, or add to them. As you say, it is a luxery knowing I will never want for anything to read, ranging from romance to mystery to thriller to the classics. I mostly decide what to read next based on challenges I've committed to this year, or books/authors picked for monthly group reads. This year I joined the "Year of the Historical" challenge, determined to catch up on Johanna Lindsey. I had bought the last dozen or so books by her, but never got round to them. It's been fun catching up on her! I've also been trying to work in a few authors I've not read before and, since most of those I read are female, I've been trying to work in a few more male authors this year. So far, so good!

I don't have any real good reply to this, other than: When I finished reinadg Cat Valente's 'Orphan's Tales' books, the two comments that I felt were most apt towards my feelings of them were 1) They were awesome; and 2) They made me want to write something just like them.So I did. But then, I've always written -- I'm not sure how one would encourage non-writers to start.
