Have been updating Mariko's TakaWiki page a little bit with stuff she's been getting up to since her retirement. Her page looked so sparse for OG-ness, so it's now all updated :) And it got me to noticing just how early they started giving her leads.
Her first two shinjinkoens, she was understandably gently overlooked as a baby of the troupe. However, her third she was in the Nibante role in the Shinjinkoen to none other than Mayo, while she was still a Tsuki-baby. And by her 4th Shinko, she was leading. 7 shinko leads (and how much would I give to see her Yukariko!), as well as 6-leading roles and guest alternate roles (Fersen and Rhett respectively) before her Top Star debut.
She's back in Japan in just over a month as well, to perform, and wah! on missing her, but I'm so glad she didn't just disappear like many Siennes seem to do. After a career like that, it would have been such a shame.
Incidentally, I love one of the books I have: it's technically her journal during her year ascending to Top Star, but about 65% of the pages are photographs from her earlier years. Now, I'm going to have to look it out, because if I can find Yukariko pictures, I will be exceedingly happy ;)
